Every month Fluoro hosts various workshops focused on teaching folks how to Riso print.
If those dates don’t work for you, or if you’ve already got a group of pals ready to go, considering booking a private workshop! You’ll have the freedom to choose what workshop you do and when you do it!
Riso workshops are open to any skill level, no previous experience necessary and all materials are provided!

RISOGRAPH MINI

Perfect for those who love to explore and learn new skills!
We will go over the basics of what Riso is, where it came from, and how the machine works with all of its quirks. The remainder of the class will be dedicated to creating, experimenting, and printing a postcard design all your own.
Everyone will make a 2 colour, 4.25x5.5” postcard print using the materials available. You will design and create your own artwork and as a group, decide on what 2 colours we will be printing with. Everyone’s design will be tiled on one page, printed, and then cut down to size, so you’ll walk away with 20 copies of your very own print. In the spirit of Riso, I always like to encourage a print swap at the end of the class!
RISOGRAPH BASICS

Perfect for (but not limited to) those who are interested in working with Riso and incorporating it into their practice!
We will go over all the fundamentals, from the machine’s beginnings to how it works, including all the fun quirks and imperfections that happen along the way. You’ll see examples from past workshops, learn about the different mark making tools, and participate in a print demo to see the machine in action before designing and creating a poster of your own!
You’ll make a tabloid (11”x17”) sized, 2 colour poster using the materials available. Experiment with shapes, textures, and patterns. Play with composition, layering colours, and try to make the most of this unique print process. At the end of the night, you'll walk away with 20 copies of your unique poster and keeping with the spirit of Riso, I always like to encourage a print swap at the end of the class!
ZINE MAKING
3ish hour session to learn, create, print and fold

Perfect for new and seasoned zinesters alike!
We will go over all the fundamentals of Risograph printing, from the machine’s beginnings to how it works (quirks and all), as well as it’s contributions to the zine scene. We will look at examples of zines from all over the world, learn about different techniques and tools, and something before diving into creating a zine of your own!
In this workshop you’ll be making a 2 colour, classic 8-page zine from a tabloid (11”x17”) sheet of paper using the materials provided. We will start with a story boarding exercise to plan out the contents of your zine before working on the final copy. Once your done creating your zine, we will take it to the Riso where we will print 20 copies and keeping with the spirit of Zine/Riso culture, I always like to encourage a zine swap at the end of the class!
